Red Robe

Kurt
Joachim von Behrmann
Title: Red Robe, or Red Woman Date: 2000 Medium: technical pen and prism colors on Bristol Vellum paper Size: 6 by 8 inches Please note that this work is framed and ready to be displayed. Description: Sorrows, regrets, disappointments and frustration were the sources of inspiration for this drawing. I wanted to convey a sense of loss and grief in a small scale drawing that used bright colors set against somber text. Instead of using dark colors, I wanted a lighter palette from which to work. The contrast of having heavy meanings set against bright upbeat vibrant colors is in my mind a visual equivalent dissonance. Creating this kind of tension for me always allows leads to a more profound form of expression. |
