Girl and Crane

Medium: technical pen on paper

Description:

This drawing was one of the first I created using the Japanese themes that have appeared in my recent works. It was also the first one sold.

The roots of this drawing go back thirty years ago. While on a visit to my Great Aunt and Great Uncle, I was watching an animated film made in Japan. I never caught the title, but the images of that film stayed on my mind.  In the story a young girl stands in an open field with her arms spread and turns into a crane.

Now, flash forward thirty years later, and that image became the roots for this drawing created in Arizona.  So time and pictures have a unique way of working together.  I still find it hard to believe that it took me thirty years to take an image that left such a strong impression into a drawing.

Although this one has been sold, if you would like something along these lines, please email me.
