Title: Elizabeth Tudor Date: 2000 Medium: technical pen and marker on paper Size: 8 inches by 10 inches Please note that this work is framed and ready to be displayed. Description: After viewing the film, Elizabeth, starring Kate Blanchet, I found myself once again interested in Elizabethan England and the entire Tudor Family. This interest was heightened after reading Lady Antonia Frasier's books chronicling this fascinating period in the history of the United Kingdom. Born to Queen Ann Boleyn, who was executed by King Henry the VIII for false charges of adultry, incest and treason, the chances of Elizabeth ascending the thrown looked slim. Barely escaping execution herself at the hands of her half Sister, Mary Tudor, Elizabeth managed to end the religious strife that split the Nation and in the course of her long reign made England a more powerful nation than it had ever been. Considered a "Golden Age," her reign marked a period of growth and expansion for England that had repercussions that are still felt in the course of World Politics.
